18th Moga District Junior Chess championship conducted by Moga District Chess Association concluded on 3rd May at Sacred Heart School,Moga.Mrs. Vijaya JebaKumar,Principal Sacred Heart School,Moga was Chief Guest.290 players participated in the championship.A total cash prize Rs. 9000- was distributed among the first three position holders in 6 groups.Groups were Boys Under-11,13,16,19 and Girls under-15,19.The final standings are-

Panjab-B chess championship was conducted by Moga District Chess Association from 17th to 19th October,2014 at Moga.This tournament was dedicated to the memory of Late Sh. Mangat Rai Aggarwal, former senior vice-president of MDCA.53 players from 12 districts participated in this tournament.7 rounds were played. A sad news for Panjab Chess,especially Moga Chess-Sh. Mangat Rai Aggarwal senior vice-president Moga District Chess Association,former senior vice-president PSCA passed away today at Moga after long illness.Sh. Mangat Rai Aggarwal did a lot for promotion of game of chess in Panjab since 1984.He was the main force behind all the tournaments conducted at Moga since 1984.His views were always progressive.A brave man,fought his last battle bravely ,though he knew very well that he is not going to survive long he never lost courage.May his soul rest in peace.

One day open Rapid Chess championship(5 november) concluded today here at Moga.72 players participated in the championship.Former Panjab champion Pradeep Arora became champion with 6/7 points.Another former Panjab champion Vikas Sharma got 2nd position with 6/7 points.Shubham Shukla got 3rd position.MDCA member and co sponsor of this tournament Vinit Bansal from Canada got 4th position. Other prize winners are-Vivek Astir,Intkhab Alam,Chetan Bansal,Puneet Jaiswal,Varun Kumar,Harbans Singh,Gursher Singh,Sushant Manuja,Vinod Sharma,Diljeet Singh,Gagan Joshi in order of merit.

Bharti of Moga won Panjab Girls Under-15 chess championship in Panjab championship held at Bathinda on 6th & 7th July,2013. Reva of Moga got 3rd position. Both will represent Panjab in National Girls U-15 Chess championship.
Inderpreet Kaur of Moga won 2 titles in a month.She became Panjab Under-19 Girls chess champion in Panjab Junior Girls chess championship held at Bathinda.And then she won Panjab Women championship held at Jalandhar.Gurpreet Kaur of Moga got 2nd position in Panjab Women chess championship.Kajal Arora of Moga got 3rd position in Panjab Girls junior chess championship held at Bathinda.

Open Prize Money Chess championship-2012 concluded here at Moga.97 players from different parts of the region participated in the championship.Total 8 rounds were played.
Arvinderpreet Singh of Ludhiana completed his Hat Trick at Moga and bagged Rs. 9000- cash.He lead from the begining and scored 7.5/8.Young and Panjab-B champion Vibhor Sharma got 2nd position.Naveen Bansal of Chandigarh got 3rd position.Total cash prize Rs. 35900- was awarded to players.Shaveta of chandigarh got 1st position among girls Inderpreet Kaur of Moga got 2nd position and Priya Sharma of Amritsar got 3rd position.Lovekesh Sharma was declared Best Under-17 player.Dushyant Sharma of Jalandhar got the youngest player of the tournament award. 16th Moga District Junior chess championship was conducted by Moga Distt. Chess Association on 12th & 13th May,2012 at Sacred Heart School,Moga.Categories were Boys Under-12,14,16,19 and Girls Under-15,19.Total 260 players from all the schools of Moga city and surrounding areas particpated in the championship.Dr.Harjot Kamal Singh,President MDCA inaugurated the championship.Mrs. Vijaya Jeba Kumar,Principal Sacred Heart School,Moga gave away the prizes to the winners.
One thing is worth mentioning -Moga was declared a District in 1996(16 years ago).
New young members of MDCA Ankit Gupta, Gundeep Singh,Sukhjit Singh,Gagan Joshi and old members Chetan Bansal,JM Goyal,Ashwani Gupta,Bal Bahadur Singh,Dr. Iqbql Singh,Vinod Sharma did lot of hard work to make the tournament successful.MDCA thanked Chairman Sacred Heart School Moga Mr. Jeba Kumar and Principal Mrs .Vijaya Jeba Kumar for extending full co-operation to MDCA.

Chess Association on 9th & 10th Sept,2011.14 players were invited to participate in the championship.Participants included Vikas Sharma,Pradeep Arora,Arvinder preet Singh,RB Singh,Chetan Bansal,Vinod Sharma and others.It was a 5 round event.
Vikas sharma became champion,Pradeep Arora was runners up,RB Singh got 3rd position and Vinod Sharma got 4th position.
Vinod Sharma won a brilliant game against Arvinderpreet Singh in the last round.
